Living Farm Labs
bioconfarm defines living farm labs as physical locations and a space for interaction, in which farmers and other relevant stakeholders are collaborating for presenting, show-casing and promoting of agriculture related new technologies, services, products and systems in real-life contexts as well as for raising awareness, educational and debate activities. These living farm labs will use fields and farms to present selected best practices in practice and to create trust at the farmers side to apply novel approaches in plant protection.
Living Farm Lab Slovakia
Living Farm Lab Slovakia is managed by ELID and Slovak University of Agriculture Nitra, and is located at Agricultural Cooperative Rastislavice who manages 1,260 ha of fertile chernozem soils in Rastislavice, Nitra Region which is one of Slovakia’s most productive agricultural areas. The cooperative blends long-standing cropproduction expertise with modern, sustainable practice. In Slovakia, a focus on crops like wheat, barley, maize, sunflower, oilseed rape, sugar beet and peas has been defined and to showcase selected best practices for dissemination and presentation to farmers, advisors and cooperatives.

Living Farm Lab Italy
Living Farm Lab Italy is managed by Sant’Orsola Cooperative specialised in the cultivation of small fruits, strawberries and cherries and comprise more than 600 producers, farmers at over 550 hectares. It is in the region around Trento, Italy, and guarantees year-round production. In Italy, a focus on crops like strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry and redcurrant has been defined and to showcase selected best practices for dissemination and presentation to farmers, advisors and cooperatives.

Living Farm Lab Germany
Living Farm Lab Germany is managed by ewia and LC3B, Christian Löw, and is in Bavaria´s fertile “Gäuboden” region which is often referred to the breadbasket of Bavaria. Living Lab Germany applies showcasing of best practices on fields in Bavaria, but also in the Northern parts of Germany. In Germany, a focus on crops like potatoes, wheat, corn, sugar beet, onions has been defined and to showcase selected best practices for dissemination and presentation to farmers, advisors and cooperatives.

Living Farm Lab France
Living Farm Lab France is managed by VTC, the winegrowers of Tutiac which is a winegrowers’ cooperative located in the Bordeaux wine region, France, and brings together more than 350 member winegrowers. Nearly 5,000 hectares of vineyards are cultivated which is currently one of the largest wine cooperatives in the region. Two vinyards have been selected to showcase best practices on the field, one focuses on Merlot and Sauvignon blanc and the other one on Colombard and Sauvignier Blanc and to showcase selected best practices for dissemination and presentation to farmers, advisors and cooperatives.

Living Farm Lab Spain
Living Farm Lab Spain is managed by CTA, the Technological Corporation of Andalusia, a public-private partnership with more than 160 members. CTA helps to plan innovation and research strategies and identify needs for innovation. Currently, CTA is working on the implementation of the Living Farm Lab in Spain. Further information will be published here soon. A first strategy is to focus on olive trees and best practices.
