On 17th and 18th of September 2025, the bioconfarm consortium met in Vienna, Austria, to kick-off the bioconfarm meeting that has officially started on 1st of August 2025. The meeting started with an introduction round by all participants including our online participants Antonio (Project Officer at REA) and Gisela (Policy Officer at EC), followed by a short presentation about the project and its special history. The project aims to collect and disseminate best practices in sustainable agriculture, focusing on climate resilience and reduced chemical use. At the meeting key team members have been introduced and the project’s structure outlined, with work packages focusing on establishing a network, setting up living labs, and documenting best practices. bioconfarm aims to make smart plant protection approaches accessible to all actors in the agricultural value chain and to meet relevant farmer´s needs rather than industry needs, transferring existing research findings into practical applications through physical living farm labs.
In these two days the planned workplan has been presented and discussed to gain a common understanding about the project tasks and goals. We further defined the first steps in our project and launched the process of preparing a project website and the collection of relevant best practices. The relevant project beneficiaries foreseen to set up a bioconfarm living farm lab collected related information in order to prepare the installation of living farm labs.
