Bioconfarm Workshop in Italy

On 11 September 2026, the bioconfarm Co-Creation Workshop brought together project partners, researchers, agricultural experts and local farmers and growers at the Italian Living Farm Lab in Sant’Orsola. The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and discuss practical approaches for more sustainable plant protection.

A central focus was the presentation of innovative and field-oriented best practices for strawberry production. These included a UV-C robot for controlling strawberry powdery mildew, attract-and-kill traps against Spotted Wing Drosophila, chitosan and silicon treatments against grey mould and others.

A round-table discussion encouraged invited experts to exchange experiences and perspectives on alternative plant protection and best practices and inform the workshop participants. In the afternoon, participants visited practical field sites within the Italian Living Farm Lab, where Sant’Orsola member growers presented practical solutions and shared technical insights directly in the field.

The workshop combined scientific knowledge, practical farming experience and stakeholder dialogue, reflecting bioconfarm’s co-creation approach and supporting the exchange and uptake of promising plant protection practices across the project’s Living Farm Labs.
